Titusville police arrested a 43-year-old man on allegations of attempted kidnapping and driving under the influence on Monday.
According to the charges leveled against the man, he was responsible for trying to lure a 13-year-old girl into his Nissan pickup truck some time in the early evening. The girl refused, and shortly afterward contacted a nearby adult. Police were informed not long after the incident took place at 7:10 p.m., and were able to patrol the area within fifteen minutes. The suspect was apprehended only two block from the site of the incident.
Once pulled over, the man offered no resistance to officers, and was identified as a 43-year-old Titusville man who had previously been charged with cruelty to a child in 2000. Authorities found lengths of rope and knives stored in the man’s truck.
Police commended the girl for immediate response to the situation and her clear thinking.
