A high school freshman has been charged with attempted murder for riding his bike to Deerfield Beach Middle School on Wednesday and viciously beating a middle school student who allegedly sent a disparaging text message to him, reports say. She is in critical condition at Broward General Medical Center.

The 15-year-old boy punched the 15-year-old girl, banged her head on the concrete and proceeded to kick and stomp on her head with steel-toe boots, police said. A 13-year-old girl who assisted the boy has also been charged as an accessory to the attack, authorities said.
