According to a new report, the number of crimes in Florida has dropped nearly 8% for the first half of 2009. This is after a nearly 2 year rise in crime rates in Florida.
Many politicians and law enforcement officials are stating that new laws and tough law enforcement have been responsible for the decrease in crime.
Almost all crimes were down overall. One crime that did decrease during this time period was domestic abuse, which reported about a 5% overall rise.
Many experts are suprised by the finding that crime is down for the first half. Crime typically increases during periods of economic instability and recession.
